When we got back from Peru in December we had about a week and a half to get settled back in and get ready for Christmas. It was a crazy week of unpacking, cleaning, sending out Christmas cards, making neighbor treats, visiting teaching, making Christmas gifts, buying groceries, repacking, and finally flying out to southern California for a fun Christmas with the Tates.
Here are a few photos from that crazy week and a half:
We opened Christmas gifts Grandma & Grandpa Tyler left for us while we were in Peru.
Wrenn didn't really get how to open his gift.
But he had fun in the wrapping paper!
Later that day he accidentally got a bow stuck on his bottom.
Wrenn enjoyed being back in his crib...
And all the fun new obstacles he could explore with his new crawling capabilities.
We also tried styling his hair, but I didn't like it because it masked his sweet baby smell.
And here is the painting I did for Adam for Christmas.
After all the insanity we were ready to settle in for a nice relaxing Christmas vacation with family. It wasn't quite that, unfortunately, as Nathan got everyone sick, and we each had a day where we didn't want to move very far from the couch.
However by Christmas day most everyone was feeling okay and we were able to enjoy ourselves. Well except for Wrenn; that was the day he was sick... poor baby.
Grandma & Baby waiting their turn to go down stairs to see what Santa had brought them.
We were so excited!!!
Wrenn's first present he opened. He was easily up-settable that day.
Wrenn was getting a little overwhelmed with the festivities. So we found him a nice quiet corner to try and open his presents.
Finally he found some feeling of safety in Grandpas arms.
After opening presents, we played with our toys...
And Wrenn did his hunt (a challenge to accomplish to receive your "big" present). Wrenn had to crawl after his tiger to find it. He was really slow and not that interested, but it was fun.
Poor baby, we made him have to work for his present.
He's like this isn't even that great.
That night we got dressed into our Christmas pj's and hung up our stockings. We did this Christmas night because grandpa was too sick Christmas eve and Santa was willing to come Christmas night instead. Santa is a cool guy. But of course through all of this Wrenn was sick and grumpy.
After stockings we opened up our sibling gifts to each other. This included the gifts that we made for one another. Nathan made a comic book for Brandon, and Brandon made a Christmas sweater for me, and I of course made the painting for Adam.
And these are a wood doll representation of the Tate family that Bethany made. I thought they were super cute.
The day after Christmas we headed to the beach. I don't know if Wrenn was still sick or just hated sand, but he was still grumpy.
All and all despite sickness it was a wonderful Christmas, and we enjoyed being with family.
After Christmas we came home and crashed. We had been traveling like crazy and we just needed to calmly slide back into our routine.
We fed Wrenn.
We got used to bathing Wrenn in a tub again. He loves his bath toys from Christmas.
We fed Wrenn some more...
And we relaxed. Well Wrenn doesn't get that concept, but Nathan and I relaxed.
We had our cousins over to play.
And Wrenn "played" with his finger puppets from Christmas.
He is also fascinated with the dishwasher. He prefers when its full so he can "unload" it.
And we slept.
After a couple week break from traveling, in mid-January my parents came out to visit us for a quick weekend trip. It was fun to have them out, and even though time was short we did make a trip down to the Denver aquarium with the Buie boys.
But like my wonderful Tyler family mostly does we sat around and visited; I love chatting with my parents. Wrenn liked seeing Grandma and Grandpa and he really liked Grandpa's beard.
After my parents came out it really began to feel like we were back to normal. We were home back in Colorado and it was wonderful. We had a car, normal cheese, church was in English, we got back to our callings, Nathan worked, I took care of Wrenn; we were back to life as usual.
One fun thing that has been different the last few months is Nathan has been pursuing his hobby of comedy; meaning that he has been working on writing a pilot for a sitcom, and he has been going down to do open-mics in Denver. It has been a lot of fun for him, and even though I miss him the evenings he is in Denver it has given me time to work on my art. Here is some of the stuff I have done recently:
As well as art I have been putting the finishing touches on our home. I have been trying to take pictures of each room when I have it all cleaned up, so far I have successfully done this with baby's room. So here is Wrenn's room!
For Valentines day which we celebrated on the 5th (the anniversary of our engagement) we went to Benihanas and enjoyed a night out without baby. It was wonderful.
The last couple months have kind of blurred together watching Wrenn grow, the snow fall, spending time with Nathan, and living the day to day. Life is wonderful and we are happy. Here are some photos I'm not sure how to categorize, but I love my family!
Wrenn cries at the door when one of us leaves.
This is what Wrenn does when he's done with sleeping.
Wrenn charges to the fridge whenever we open it. He loves the playing with the milk cartons.
Not sure what was with this pose, but he eventually smiled. Silly boy. :)
Although winter has been fun, we are really looking forward to spring. We have enjoyed the little springtime we got this week and went for a walk to the park with Wrenn on Sunday.
We are happy to be home in Colorado, and are enjoying this stage of life. We can't wait for what adventures are next, but this day to day one is pretty wonderful. Love you all, until next time!
Oh I love this!! Wrenn is adorable! Aaa and on miss you! Come back to Utah!
